The cluster at the Expo Milan 2015, where you can
find your way around with info-graphics, videos, edutain-
ers, and guided tours. There are altogether four stations:
Sebastião Salgado and botany, from the cherry to the green
bean, roasting and packaging, and lastly, coffee shop and
espresso machines. At station 1: Sebastião Salgado and
botany, the plant and its flowers and fruits are shown. It is
a fascinating voyage to discover the lands where coffee is
produced. At station 2: from the cherry to the green bean,
it is to show how coffee was harvested. It also demonstrates
how the coffee are processed differently (washed/natural)
Station 3: roasting and packaging; as we all know roasting
is the most important moment in the life of the bean. In
this station, everyone can see the different colors and the
dramatic changes in the beans of different roast profiles.
They also demonstrate how the aromas of coffee are created
and how to keep them fresh. Lastly, at station 4; the coffee
shop and espresso machines. As mentioned, from beans to
cup! The history of the transformation techniques, focus-
ing on espresso, which can then be enjoyed in the coffee
shop along with delicious sweet and savory treats. Freshly
roasted coffee from the producing countries presented at
the cluster. These stations truly embark on a route from
the bean to the cup. Each station dedicated by a different
theme making this participation very refreshing.
ILLYCAFFÈ FLAGSHIP STORE, MILAN
In Milan, there is the elegant Flagship Store, the
illycaffè! After Paris and London, illy opens its first Milan
flagship store in Piazza Gae Aulenti, in the central Porta
Nuova district. Inside the venue, where coffee is the of
course the main attraction, illy’s link with contemporary
art is seen in the creative affinity connecting the company
to the Galleria Lia Rumma, one of the most acclaimed
international contemporary art galleries, which has put
together an exhibition programme at illy Caffè Milano.
The food available varies throughout the day, starting in
the morning with a selection of pastries by master patis-
sier Luigi Biasetto, a series of delicious snacks perfect for
an afternoon break, to the balance of flavors and colors
included in all the recipes prepared for weekday lunches
or a weekend brunch. The typical Italian lifestyle is thus
channelled into a space with a unique atmosphere, amongst
the coffee, culture, art and cuisine, and the welcoming and
completely contemporary decor. The heart and soul of the
venue, covering 200 square meters on two floors and seat-
ing over 70, is the new bar, which teams the refinement
of Calacatta marble with an iconic red front, decorated
with a design featuring the historic illy logo. Another eye-
catching feature are two spectacular chandeliers, made up
of over 200 illy Art Collection cups created over 20 years
