“WE PRINT GOOD STUFF ABOUT COFFEE.” FROM THE EDITORS

Welcome to the most colorful issue of our magazine! In this issue, we immerse
ourselves in color and explore it in all its forms. In a literal sense, color is the visual cue
that the spectrum of light reflects off an object and into our eyes. But color is also so
much more than that. It’s a cultural construct, a symbol, and a way of seeing the world.
It can be a state of mind, an emotion, or a signifier of something deeper. Together, we
explore how color shapes our world and our lives. Our cover story follows the footprints
of people who have both been oppressed because of the color of their skin but also have
been empowered by the diversity that color represents. Diversity and inclusivity become
key themes as we explore how color can bring people together. In this issue, we also
examine the role that color plays in branding and marketing, and how it can be used to
tell a story. We also take a closer look at the science of color, and how different hues of
a coffee kettle can actually affect the taste of the coffee. Our journey takes us all the
way to India, where we learn about the country’s rich history of coffee and how one can
jump on Delhi’s colorful subway lines to get a real taste of the city’s coffee scene. We
also learn how Brewtones photography brings coffee’s true colors to life, and goes be-
yond the world of conventional coffee photography. Within these pages, you will also
find a Turkish coffee illustrator who discovers herself through coffee and a Chinese man
