with coffee
Meet with Lee Sang-Gyu, the President of Korea Coffee
Association Society
As Korean food culture has developed, coffee culture has been greatly grown up, too. As intellectual level of
coffee customers has been heightened, coffee industry is also growing proportionally. Coffee is a part of daily lives
now, known as necessary element to everyday life.
In the late 90s as a Starbucks shop entered in front of Ihwa University, coffee culture has spread drastically
fast. Then Korea Coffee Association Education Society(KCES) was established 2005 which played as a helper. KCES
has studied development of coffee industry, and has taken a leading role to raise professional coffee people, help their
exchanges, and develop educational curriculums to satisfy intellectual needs of consumers. And by active international
exchanges, it is promoting enlargement of the fundamental and development of Korean coffee culture and contributing
to improvement of Korean coffee culture. We heard Lee Sang-Gyu, the President of KCES who has been passionate
to promote Korean coffee industry development more than anyone since its establishment, taking the roles of office
director, vice president, chief-vice president, and president now.
