larger batch of 1.2 kg. The small machine is perfect for my café
          since I have limited space and smaller machine which produces
          less exhaust fume.
                 The advantage of roasting my own coffee beans is my
          unique coffee characters. Using more variety of coffee beans
          also attracts a lot more interests, and it opens up opportuni-
          ties to communicate and introduce our products to customers.
          Roasting also drives me to be better. Each profile requires lots
          of technique, and it drives me to keep learning in order to pres-
          ent the best product.
                 Having a roasting machine in your café does raise
          some concerns as well. One of the key concerns is waste. Since
          the layout of my shop is quite open and the machine is small,
          the smoke and smells from the roasting process does not really
          affect the shop environment. However, I would have to think
          again if the machine is larger because it would cost a lot more
          for the machine itself and the ventilation system that has to be
          installed as well.


                                                                      Stocking and storing green beans is another concern
                                                               as different coffee has different harvesting season. If you plan
                                                               to use a specific coffee for the whole year, you might need to
                                                               plan your storing method and your finance well. The space and
                                                               container must be suitable and adequate because green beans
                                                               needs the right temperature and humidity in order to preserve
                                                               its quality.
                                                                      Maintaining a roasting machine requires careful at-
                                                               tention. Although we do not have mechanical certification, we
                                                               should learn how to check and clean the basic parts. Clean your
                                                               machine frequently and always check and clean off any coffee
                                                               chaffs to prevent fire hazard or blockage.
                                                                      If you want a roasting machine in your café, answer
                                                               these questions first; “Is it necessary?”, “do you have the
                                                               money?”, “do you have the space?”, “what will you gain from
                                                               having a roasting machine?”, “is it necessary to roast your own
                                                               coffee?”. If you are looking to save cost of your coffee, then it
                                                               might not be such a good idea because you might end up with
                                                               more unexpected cost. Having a roasting machine might be
                                                               good for your image and it shows how serious you are, but it
                                                               does not necessary mean you need a roasting machine in order
                                                               to make great coffee. I believe everyone can make good cof-
                                                               fee without having to roast your own coffee. Find out the true
                                                               reason why you want a roasting machine and why do you want
                                                               to roast. Being a coffee expert does not mean you have to be
                                                               a roaster. If your answer is you want to improve yourself, you
                                                               want to learn everything about coffee, and you are ready in
                                                               every way, then do not hesitate to jump right in!
