Fakete in Hungarian means “black”, which makes it very ob-
vious what kind of coffee you will order here, but you can still
find your favorite cappuccinos, cortados, lattes and flat whites
here. Even though Fakete is located very close to Astoria metro
station, you still need to manage sneaking inside of the arch to
find the actual place. After you do find a place, you forget that you
just came from a busy Muzeum Korut as there are tables outside
with lanterns and a little fountain that gave us cozy yet romantic
mood. After entering the café you see an open bar with La Mar-
zocco machine, where baristas are not separated from guests and
they can walk freely around.
Fakete is one of the rare specialty coffee places in Budapest
that actually does offer food, we were lucky to stop by for Sunday
brunch. Of course, a place like this would have a line, but after
waiting for about 5 minutes we could order and find a place to sit.
Coffee here comes from UK Alchemy as well as from local Casino
Mocca. We would highly recommend to try Ethiopia Adado and
Kenya Gatura.

Last but not least, My Little Melbourne. The shop is located in the old Jewish neighborhood, next block from
Dohány Street Synagogue. The owners, Peter and Dia Balázs, opened this place in 2015 as a result of their romance
with the outstanding Australian coffee culture. And in fact you can find a lot of espresso-based milky coffees as well
as good pastry and friendly baristas, who make sure that you enjoy your visit to the fullest. My Little Melbourne uses
around 5-6 kg of coffee per day, that are roasted right here in Racer Beans Riding and Roasting Company. The roast-
er, Janos Ritli, showed us the roastery and we even took some pictures of it.
The space of My Little Melbourne is limited, but you can always take your coffee to-go or sit outside, the coffee
shop seems like a nice spot to take a break from walking around Budapest.
