c Cafe Hopping
The coffee shop is hidden in the alley
so people will not just walk in, on contrary,
it is a destination place. Design is pretty
simple and colors are light, but people are
here for excellent coffee, not design. At the
same time, Kontakt does not offer food, as
owners decided to keep it pure and simple.
For all the foodies they opened Szimply
café, that is located right in front of Kontakt
and can serve some great avocado toasts to
pair with your coffee.

Famous shop
Next stop in our Budapest coffee journey was Tamp & Pull. The shop is owned by Attila Molnar, who
placed 6th in the 2009 World Barista Championships in Atlanta. The team introduced Has Bean coffee to
Hungary, moreover, they were one of specialty coffee pioneers in the country.
They have two locations spread across the city and we chose the one at Czuczor utca 3, as it is very close
to a famous, and very instagramable, Great Market Hall.
The place is not that obvious as it is hidden in one of the streets close to the Danube river, but once you
find it, do not hesitate to enter and order a good cup of joe. Serving around 3kg of coffee per day, Tamp and
Pull can suggest different blends, single origin, black coffees, milky coffees and many more, where the fa-
vorites are Kalita and Chemex. As for the food, we have noticed that Budapest coffee shops do not have
kitchens therefore they can offer only premade sandwiches, cookies, brownies and some other pastry. Tamp
and Pull is not an exception here, but they still offer a little something extra, which is fresh juices.
The space in Tamp and Pull is limited as the café is small, but we did not see a lot of people there, so
the size of the place will not make you feel uncomfortable, on the contrary, it will make you feel more private
and relaxed.
