A Visit to Malaysia I
Love Coffee & Tea Expo
October 27th to 29th 2017, Malaysia
The 2017 Malaysia I Love Coffee & Tea Expo opened on
October 27th, 2017. From October 27th to 29th, coffee industry
professionals and coffee lovers all converged in Mid Valley Exhi-
bition Centre in Kuala Lumpur where the Expo was being held.
The audience who had pre-registered were provided with gifts
including a copy of Coffee t&i Magazine.
Cold Brew was still the star in this expo. Besides, more new
trends of coffee drinking had been developed. Ready-to-drink
coffee and vending machines were the growing trend, which in-
dicated that convenience would be brands’ next focus. In addition
to coffee, this expo also showcased various types of tea. The audi-
ence was amazed by extraordinary tea sets and the long history
of tea culture. The Expo was crowded and bustling: not only

dteaexpo this event. The general acceptance of specialty coffee would not
have happened without an endeavor of all the exhibitors.
During this expo, there was the I Love Coffee & Tea Expo
Under 18 Malaysia Barista Championship which was held in Ma-
laysia for the very first time. All competitors were under 18 years
old, and had to produce one cup of expresso and one cup of milk
coffee for judges in 10 minutes. 12 people joined the preliminary,
and among them, 6 managed to get to the final. Although all of
them were young, while the youngest was only 15 years old, and
they were learning coffee-making only after school, most com-
petitors did a good job with fluent English presentation and ac-
curate coffee-making. In the end, Sheryl Mah Xue Rou won the
game, Lim Yee Khim was the 1st runner-up, and Tan Hui Lin the
2nd runner-up.
I Love Coffee&Tea Expo also cares about social work and
charity. In this expo, COWA Coconut Water sold their products
at the price of only 1 ringgit. All the income would be donated to
the Spastic Children’s Association of Selangor.
