In Proper Tea, the three founders are flexible with the idea of “give
it a try”, letting the store be itself as much as possible. The guests
also find their tea by “giving it a try”.

 PROPER TEA

 Have a Good Sip

O n March 18, in line with the tradition of Caihong Street, Chengdu, Proper Tea set up a

long table banquet on the street to celebrate the 100th day of of its birth together with
neighbors. Though the tiny store is too young to review its history with a long time span,
it specially cherishes its daily state and growth. “We have been together for 100 days,
and we will have 100 years.” Behind the words is the deep blessing of the three young founders. As
a tea brand with the Fujian and Guizhou genes, Proper Tea upholds the original intention of making
good tea, spreading the fragrance of tea around the corners of Caihong Street even before opening.
The iconic beige canopy doorway and the furniture acquired from vintage market, along with the
irregular handwriting and outward decorations displayed everywhere, echos the “old” Yulin Com-
munity. While conveying its orthodoxy as a professional tea maker, the brand unexpectedly appeals
to the younger generation. We reached out to Yang Qinli, the co-founder, to find out how they drink
traditional tea with a light touch.
