The Espresso Machine
In the older days, coffee brewing was a slow process.
Inventors across Europe began to explore ways of using steam
machines to reduce brewing time. Today, an espresso machine
brews coffee by forcing pressurized water near boiling point
through a "puck" of ground coffee and a filter in order to produce
a thick, concentrated coffee called espresso. It’s all about preci-
sion and consistency and finding the perfect balance between
grind, temperature, and pressure. Though, when it started, it was
          something different.
Let’s go back to the early times of the late 18th century,
Angelo Moriondo of Turin, Italy, who was granted a patent in 1884
for “new steam machinery for the economic and instantaneous
confection of coffee beverage.” The machine consisted of a large
boiler, heated to 1.5 bars of pressure, that pushed water through
a large bed of coffee grounds on demand, with a second boiler
producing steam that would flash the bed of coffee and complete
          the brew.
Later in 1901 where a Milanese engineer Luigi Bezzera
filed the patent for a new espresso machine designed for industrial
production. The entrepreneur Desiderio Pavoni was later granted
use, and in 1905, La Pavoni company was officially introduced
on its production of coffee machines. These machines were very
different from those that are used today, as the beverage delivered First patent of the espresso coffee machine registered by Angelo
was a dark coffee with burnt after taste with no creaminess to Moriondo
it - flaws caused by the limited pressure exerted on the water.
Pavoni made several improvements to Moriondo’s machine, in-

Moreover, it was harder back then: with the limitations of energy similar espresso machines began to appear throughout Italy after
sources during the older days, the machine uses a hybrid system the “cafeé espresso” introduced by Pavoni and Bezzera.
