Malaysia Aeropress Championship 2016

Set in the quaint neighbourhood of Subang Jaya, the 3rd
edition of the Malaysian Aeropress Championship took place in
WhupWhup, starting from as early as 4.30pm in the afternoon.
The night look set for some tipsy faces as the party kicked off early
in the evening, with a great selection of hops to choose from.
As the 32 contestants prepared for a heart-pumping com-
petition, the crowd drifted in the venue swiftly throughout the
night. Accompanied with great food and beverages, the competi-
tion kicked off with the first rounds, where competitors faced off
in a throwdown format.

The organizers, Barista Guild Asia together with the spon-
sors Coffex Coffee Malaysia, The Roast Things, My Espresso,
Artisan Roastery and WhupWhup proved they were up to task
of organizing another successful championship as the crowd was
not only interactive, but supportive as well.
The finals saw two competitors from different ends of
Malaysia battle it out, Tan Zhi Ying from Tongue Mission Roast-
works in Penang and Tan Hock Long from A. Felix in Johor.
Ultimately, Tan Hock Long took home the title of the 2016
Malaysia Aeropress Champion and will be representing Malaysia
in the World Aeropress Championship in Dublin this coming June
2016.
